DivX and Samsung Introduce First DivX Certified Mobile Device Based on WiMAX Technology

DivX Certification transforms the Samsung Mondi(TM) into a powerful portable media player for DivX(R) video playback anytime, anywhere

DivX, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., LTD announced the launch of the Samsung Mondi(TM), the first DivX Certified(R), WiMAX-equipped mobile Internet device. Combining laptop functionality and Internet connectivity in a compact design, the Mondi enables consumers to enjoy high-quality DivX(R) video anytime, anywhere.

DivX technology produces highly compressed video suitable for mobile platforms that require minimal storage for the highest quality experience possible. Utilizing the Mondi’s large 4.3-inch touch screen, consumers will be able to playback DivX video stored on the device’s internal 4GB memory or on additional microSD flash cards.

The Samsung Mondi can connect to the Internet via WiFi or WiMAX and possesses a full-featured web browser that enables consumers to download and watch DivX content on the go.

“Supporting high-resolution, high-quality video playback on new and emerging mobile devices is one element of our strategy to enable a seamless, end-to-end solution for digital media,” said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer at DivX. “The Mondi joins a broad array of other DivX Certified Samsung consumer electronics devices that are a part of the DivX ecosystem. We look forward to partnering with Samsung to bring our robust, high-quality DivX video solution to their next generation of mobile devices, digital TVs, and Blu-ray players.”
